the end

So... the course now officially over. On the 18th I've crossed over last column in my project time table.

What a great feeling to have some rest now after so much hard work. Over past 2 years I've not only had a chance to experience UK's education system but also find out how it feels being totally exhausted (e.g. 'fighting' with myself to stay awake or falling asleep while having dinner). In spite of all the setbacks, points of utter frustration and confusion I had some really good experiences. I've learned a lot: not only things I've studied, but also about myself. With the end of this course my first step towards my goal is complete and having an A grade makes it that much sweeter.

In my opinion, the most valuable thing I've picked up during these 2 years is the importance of sketchbook development. I know it may sound strange, but I've never had a sketchbook before because no one ever asked for one, nor I felt like I needed it since all the development process was happening inside my head 24/7. However, a 'brainbook' is of little use when presenting a project work to others. I've learned to look at my work and ideas from a different perspective which I'm sure will come in handy in the future.

Before my next step 'Going to a Uni' I'll be having a year off to sort my finances, have some time for myself and do some work on my portfolio as well as learn new skills or brush up on the ones I already have. It's going to be my preparation year. :) I want to feel confident about my work and be ready for a couple more years of hard work and loads of studying. It's like filling myself up with energy to make sure that I'll have enough when things go hard or dark.

reaching for the moon X)

All my work is done. I have finished writing my Evaluation paper last night and submitted my boards and sketchbook. Now just need to wait until Friday and hand in my last professional studies document. Hopefully I don't have to make any changes.

I already feel almost over the moon. Going to bed early today to catch up with sleep. :)

last bits and bobs

Weekend is over :( but I'm quite pleased with myself, as I have finished all my work for professional studies unit. X) On Tuesday I'll print everything out and put in to my folder and that's me done. Submission on Friday. Hopefully I won't have to change anything. Fingers crossed.
Tomorrow is a day off from college and I'm planning to start my final project evaluation document. That way I'll have my first draft to show to my lecturer on Tuesday and still plenty time left for corrections if something not quite right and needs to be changed.
So... last college week starts tomorrow and I'm right on target with my work. In fact, I don't even have to sweat. Can't be more happy than that ;) lol

latest update

The course I'm on is now really coming to an end. Our final cit is now done and dusted.

Sadly my time management wasn't marvellous as I was trying to push out of myself and my project the most I could. Wednesday in to Thursday night I was making my presentation boards and cutting two small figures out of Kappa board - a nightmare scenario. :O It was one of those decisions when you make and later ask yourself 'why on earth did I do that?', but there is no way back. In spite of my night disaster I managed to finish my boards and do a presentation on Thursday. Unfortunately little information cards about my project did not arrive until Friday afternoon and I had to present without them.:[
Despite all the adversity, reactions to my work from lecturers and students were very positive. Only by looking at my boards people seemed to understand the core idea of what my project was about so I did not have to do any lengthy explanations.
Here are my four boards. Two for project development and two for final work.

Board 1: project development - Inspiration

Board 2: project development - Development Process

Boards 3 & 4: Final work

You'll be able to find more information about this project and individual pictures on my temporary website http://www.opusmaximus.net/jurga/index.html next week.

Today feels great.:) I've already submitted the 'biggest' part of this blocs work with in my opinion a satisfactory result. There still some other work to be done, but nothing as important as my presentation: Outcome 3 of Professional Studies ( business card, CV, cover letter and digital portfolio) as well as written document for my project evaluation. Written stuff always tend to scare me, especially when I'm writing about myself or my work , but I do have a week to prepare it and since my spirits seem to be picking up it shouldn't be a very big chore.

I can't believe it, next week my course will be over and I won't have any more things that I 'have to do', from now on only the things I 'want to do'. What a great feeling! X)

last push

So here it is LAST weekend before my Graded Unit Critique! :O Shame, I feel as if I haven’t done everything I have wanted to do and may be letting myself down but at the same time I’ve tried to do my best with the time and the situation that was given to me. Unfortunately, at the moment I feel as if I am on a wave which is traveling down and no matter how much I'm struggling I won't be able to change much. Anyhow it is time for that very last push.

I need to do some Photoshop work on my shots to make them look better and edit some stuff in or out to achieve my desired result. I just wonder if I have enough material for 6-10 images. :S

Here are some of my latest shots.

the End is so near and also sooo faaarr away

I seem to be falling behind a bit with my blog updates.

Only 2 weeks left before the Graded Unit presentation on 10-11th of June. I'm really looking forward to the end of my Computer Art & Design course not only because I want to start working on some of my own projects(I'll tell you about them later) but also there are other urgent things I need to take care of and I can't do it while I'm studying full time. When the end is so near it becomes difficult to push myself even harder because the only thing I really want is to get some rest. :( I wish I had some magic pill that could make me stop sleeping and don't feel tired. :) So the pressure is on and I need to keep the pace especially because in April I have' lost' approximately two weeks waiting to get paid so I could order some of the necessary resources.

There have been some major changes to my final project: I will be submitting still images instead of a video. So last week I had a look at photo printing and enlargements. I had a nice dream X) of presenting some of my pictures on photo canvas. However, canvas prices are waaayyy to high for my current purse. If I'm lucky I might be able to order a single large poster or two smaller ones but that's it. So no flashy presentations for me. Worst case scenario I'll just order colour cartridges for my inject printer and use photo paper (I already have) to make A4 size prints.

At the moment I'm still working on my stencils, trying to cut a couple more and to fix ones I've already done. It's going to be a nightmare to make them fit inside that tiny car I'm using...

I'm still trying to regularly visit St. Enoch square at night, but weekends although very convenient for me, aren't best times for taking all that expensive gear and making fools of ourselves by flashing multicoloured lights in front of a camera. Attracts too much certain kind of unwanted folk. XD E.g.: I have met a man 2 weeks after the general elections asking us who won. Just makes you wonder where and what he's been up to for those last couple of weeks. :S Met a builder who wanted to give me a beating for doing 'something' to his van:O and been in trouble with police men who thought that I was stealing Nando's plant pots. (Just a note: one plant in a big pot is same size or even bigger than me.) I was so baffled that I've totally forgot to ask them what did they think I was doing with that single LED torch, lighting my way? :D rofl

A couple days back I've taken an image of a bicycle that I'm mostly pleased so far. It took a couple of tries before it came out the way I wanted.
