the End is so near and also sooo faaarr away

I seem to be falling behind a bit with my blog updates.

Only 2 weeks left before the Graded Unit presentation on 10-11th of June. I'm really looking forward to the end of my Computer Art & Design course not only because I want to start working on some of my own projects(I'll tell you about them later) but also there are other urgent things I need to take care of and I can't do it while I'm studying full time. When the end is so near it becomes difficult to push myself even harder because the only thing I really want is to get some rest. :( I wish I had some magic pill that could make me stop sleeping and don't feel tired. :) So the pressure is on and I need to keep the pace especially because in April I have' lost' approximately two weeks waiting to get paid so I could order some of the necessary resources.

There have been some major changes to my final project: I will be submitting still images instead of a video. So last week I had a look at photo printing and enlargements. I had a nice dream X) of presenting some of my pictures on photo canvas. However, canvas prices are waaayyy to high for my current purse. If I'm lucky I might be able to order a single large poster or two smaller ones but that's it. So no flashy presentations for me. Worst case scenario I'll just order colour cartridges for my inject printer and use photo paper (I already have) to make A4 size prints.

At the moment I'm still working on my stencils, trying to cut a couple more and to fix ones I've already done. It's going to be a nightmare to make them fit inside that tiny car I'm using...

I'm still trying to regularly visit St. Enoch square at night, but weekends although very convenient for me, aren't best times for taking all that expensive gear and making fools of ourselves by flashing multicoloured lights in front of a camera. Attracts too much certain kind of unwanted folk. XD E.g.: I have met a man 2 weeks after the general elections asking us who won. Just makes you wonder where and what he's been up to for those last couple of weeks. :S Met a builder who wanted to give me a beating for doing 'something' to his van:O and been in trouble with police men who thought that I was stealing Nando's plant pots. (Just a note: one plant in a big pot is same size or even bigger than me.) I was so baffled that I've totally forgot to ask them what did they think I was doing with that single LED torch, lighting my way? :D rofl

A couple days back I've taken an image of a bicycle that I'm mostly pleased so far. It took a couple of tries before it came out the way I wanted.

A couple more stills from St. Enoch Square.

Today I've created an account on YouTube and uploaded some of my test videos.

First one is a stop-frame animation I've done at home.

Second one, video camera tests (shutter speeds & ND filters).

stencil tests

Finally today I managed to find time and properly update my blog.

Last couple of weeks been really busy as I had to cope not only with my usual stuff like: course work, morning job but also many other things. I feel things finally catching up with me and it's getting harder and harder, just when the end is so close. However it's time to gather all my energy and make the last push.
Last week I was doing some video and photography tests. First of all I worked on stencils and tested my 5,000,000 candle power spotlight. Some improvement needs to be done on stencils, but I'm quite happy with results.

uncomfortable silence

Done some work at  St. Enoch square. Most of the stuff is still very much based on testing.
This is an image from last night.

Need to set up my own YouTube account so I can put some of my videos on the Internet. Especially if I'm going to contact any composers for some free music.

what a gem! XD

While doing some extra research on light painting I found this rather interesting video. :)

I mean seriously, how creative is that!!!

raining today :(

Need to do some more tests tonight.

4 May 2010

I guess it's time to get in to the nitty-gritty.

I'm already in to my 8th week of my HND Computer Arts & Design course Graded Unit. So far I have managed to do a copious amounts of research, write my Brief 'Short Video: Light Graffiti at St. Enoch Square' (I know, I know, a very boring title but I just could not come up with anything more interesting.*sigh* Not at this particular time anyway.)and a Project Plan, develop a few Timetables ( some better than others), gather a reasonable amounts of resources( most likely still not enough) as well as do a little testing with my DSL camera and finish written reports for Professional Studies Outcomes 1 & 2.

Until now I have concentrated on getting all the necessary (I mean: Brief, Project Plan, Timetables, resources and some sleep)and most importantly, written stuff out of the way first, because I'm not a big fan of writing long boring documents, especially when they are about my own art projects.

Today I'll be sharing with you 2 of my latest fruits of labour: WBS's (Work Breakdown Structure) for my St. Enoch video project and Professional Studies. Please do your best to enjoy;) I have also created a mile long Gnatt charts for each of them, but (you'll probably be glad to hear ) I won't be sharing them with you. Not this time, anyway.

Also, this morning I have been informed that in 2 weeks OMG!!!:O I'll have a preliminary critique for my video project and I haven't even started taking any still images for my final project. I guess It's time to wake up. :(
OMG ... here it is my FIRST ever blog and my FIRST ever post. :) I guess I'm a real blog virgin since I have never got round making even a single post on my Twitter account, I've created last year. :O

So if you don't mind now and again encountering some spelling or grammar mistakes and have some free time on your hands which your presents here is showing, you spend reading other peoples blogs, you can join me for this ride. ;) I can promise, It won't be an exhilarating or even moderately interesting journey since I'll be posting about my graded unit project management. :D
